About Jenice

The Food & Culture Half of Every Trip

Scott and I have explored Singapore together across several trips, and for me it always comes back to the food. A city where the best meal of the day can cost a few dollars at a hawker stall, where a hundred cuisines sit under one roof, and where the queue at one stall tells you everything you need to know. I come back for the hawker centres, the wet markets, and the neighbourhoods that each feel like their own little world.

What I love is the texture beyond the skyline. The Peranakan shophouses, the incense and red lanterns of Chinatown, the spice shops of Little India, the calm of Kampong Glam. The differences between these neighbourhoods are what make Singapore endlessly interesting, and I pay attention to them so you know where to spend your limited time.

When Scott works out the MRT routes and the budgets, I'm the one tracking which hawker stall earned its Michelin mention, how to chope a table with a packet of tissues, and which kopitiam does the kaya toast properly. I taste-test everything so the recommendations on this site are ones we would genuinely send a friend to.

Scott has the travel-planning obsession and the technical skills. I have the appetite and the eye for the small things that make a trip memorable. Together, we give you both the practical and the personal.
